Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Software, Technology and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.40%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.94%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were SAP AG O.N. (XETRA:SAPG), which rose 2.27% or 1.530 points to trade at 68.940 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) added 1.57% or 0.180 points to end at 11.680 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) was up 1.45% or 0.710 points to 49.725 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG), which lost 1.43% or 0.180 points to trade at 12.400 in late trade. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) declined 1.21% or 2.800 points to end at 228.000 and RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) shed 1.00% or 0.245 points to 24.300.
The top performers on the MDAX were Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which rose 5.13% to 50.931, Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (XETRA:PSMGn) which was up 2.49% to settle at 48.185 and Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which gained 2.18% to close at 17.095.
The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 3.12% to 11.795 in late trade, RTL Group SA (XETRA:RRTL) which lost 3.12% to settle at 88.560 and Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which was down 2.97% to 8.850 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which rose 6.10% to 158.400, Software AG O.N. (XETRA:SOWG) which was up 3.82% to settle at 26.200 and Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which gained 2.56% to close at 43.330.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 2.42% to 14.325 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which lost 1.74% to settle at 6.773 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (XETRA:AFXG) which was down 1.73% to 22.730 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 503 to 244 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.36% to 20.88.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.39% or 4.60 to $1198.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.81% or 0.47 to hit $57.41 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.22% or 0.78 to trade at $62.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.15% to 1.0754, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.7190.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 98.02.
