Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Telecoms and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ackermans V.Haaren (BRU:ACKB), which rose 0.77% or 1.05 points to trade at 137.50 at the close. Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BRU:COFB) added 0.75% or 0.74 points to end at 99.75 and Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB) was up 0.74% or 0.95 points to 129.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Proximus NV (BRU:PROX), which lost 1.06% or 0.36 points to trade at 33.73 in late trade. GDF Suez SA (PARIS:GSZ) declined 0.87% or 0.15 points to end at 17.68 and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BRU:GBLB) shed 0.50% or 0.39 points to 76.91.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 93 to 78 and 3 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.12% or 12.80 to $1131.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.77% or 0.39 to hit $50.52 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.04 to trade at $56.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.28% to 1.0845, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.6940.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 98.00.
