Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Oil & Gas Producers and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.13%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.95%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 7.17% or 0.24 points to trade at 3.59 at the close. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) added 4.37% or 3.54 points to end at 84.62 and Technip (PA:TECF) was up 3.85% or 1.50 points to 40.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alstom SA (PA:ALSO), which lost 3.19% or 0.79 points to trade at 23.84 in late trade. Safran SA (PA:SAF) declined 0.54% or 0.32 points to end at 58.94 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) shed 0.42% or 0.22 points to 52.22.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which rose 13.18% to 29.410, Nexans (PA:NEXS) which was up 8.73% to settle at 35.38 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which gained 7.17% to close at 3.59.
The worst performers were Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) which was down 3.19% to 23.84 in late trade, Gemalto (AS:GTO) which lost 2.82% to settle at 56.61 and Coface (PA:COFA) which was down 2.58% to 7.73 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 385 to 276 and 109 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 0.80% to 27.36.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 1.28% or 14.20 to $1119.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 5.77% or 1.75 to hit $32.09 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 5.78% or 1.81 to trade at $33.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0840, while EUR/GBP fell 0.82% to 0.7552.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 99.21.
