Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Construction & Materials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Vopak (AMS:VOPA), which rose 1.84% or 0.81 points to trade at 44.62 at the close. ASML Holding (AMS:ASML) added 1.37% or 1.40 points to end at 103.80 and DSM Kon (AMS:DSMN) was up 0.74% or 0.40 points to 54.82 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aegon (AMS:AEGN), which lost 2.15% or 0.155 points to trade at 7.043 in late trade. Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) declined 2.10% or 0.21 points to end at 10.01 and Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) shed 1.88% or 0.31 points to 16.14.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 150 to 94 and 4 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.46% to 17.59.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.97% or 0.56 to $56.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.15% or 0.10 to hit $62.16 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.11% or 1.30 to trade at $1187.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.0917, while EUR/GBP rose 0.53% to 0.7140.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 97.37.
