BERLIN (Reuters) - German consumer prices rose in March for the first time this year when harmonised to compare with other European countries but annual inflation in Europe's largest economy remained well below the ECB's inflation target, data showed on Monday.
EU-harmonised consumer prices were up 0.1 percent on the year after dropping by 0.1 percent in February, according to preliminary data from the Federal Statistics Office.
That was in line with the Reuters forecast but below the European Central Bank's target for the euro zone as a whole of close to but just below 2 percent over the medium term.
Final consumer price data for March is due to be released on April 15, the Statistics Office said.
