Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.07% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which rose 2.29% or 0.265 points to trade at 11.830 at the close. KBC (BR:KBC) added 2.05% or 1.110 points to end at 55.280 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 0.89% or 0.24 points to 27.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which lost 2.30% or 2.35 points to trade at 100.00 in late trade. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) declined 1.87% or 1.03 points to end at 53.96 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) shed 1.79% or 0.71 points to 38.94.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 95 to 51 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.39% or 5.15 to $1303.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.79% or 0.81 to hit $44.53 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.41% or 0.66 to trade at $46.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.1109, while EUR/GBP fell 1.22% to 0.8912.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 97.16.
