Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Food and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGHM), which rose 3.89% or 3.13 points to trade at 83.56 at the close. Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) added 3.08% or 0.90 points to end at 30.10 and Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER) was up 3.06% or 1.30 points to 43.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR), which lost 2.31% or 2.01 points to trade at 85.00 in late trade. Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW) declined 0.97% or 2.90 points to end at 296.10 and PKO Bank Polski SA (WA:PKO) shed 0.55% or 0.16 points to 28.88.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 296 to 246 and 110 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.63% or 0.75 to $45.19 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.89% or 0.94 to hit $48.59 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.61% or 18.00 to trade at $1103.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.29% to 4.2141, while USD/PLN rose 0.03% to 3.7758.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 96.25.
