Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Media and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.04%, while the MDAX index fell 0.75%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which rose 1.33% or 0.41 points to trade at 31.60 at the close. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 0.78% or 0.051 points to end at 6.605 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was up 0.63% or 0.470 points to 75.220 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which lost 4.08% or 0.237 points to trade at 5.572 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 3.40% or 0.755 points to end at 21.480 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) shed 2.96% or 1.135 points to 37.240.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Euroshop AG (DE:DEQGn) which rose 1.86% to 39.420, Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which was up 1.55% to settle at 11.825 and Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which gained 1.52% to close at 24.680.
The worst performers were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 4.25% to 32.140 in late trade, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which lost 3.40% to settle at 30.230 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was down 3.35% to 49.475 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 2.59% to 11.470, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 2.00% to settle at 40.80 and S&T AG (F:SANT1) which gained 1.93% to close at 9.695.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 3.27% to 23.700 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which lost 2.56% to settle at 8.590 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was down 2.49% to 53.340 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 652 to 221 and 33 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.01% to 20.15.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.38% or 4.75 to $1258.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.24% or 0.12 to hit $50.30 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.07 to trade at $51.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.31% to 1.1044, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.9034.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.38% at 97.62.
