Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Consumer Goods and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Sacyr (MC:SCYR), which rose 1.73% or 0.032 points to trade at 1.886 at the close. Gamesa (MC:GAM) added 1.53% or 0.240 points to end at 15.965 and Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA) was up 1.27% or 1.35 points to 107.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Indra A (MC:IDR), which lost 3.17% or 0.307 points to trade at 9.388 in late trade. FCC (MC:FCC) declined 2.37% or 0.140 points to end at 5.756 and Endesa (MC:ELE) shed 1.85% or 0.350 points to 18.575.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 126 to 87 and 8 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 1.24% or 13.20 to $1074.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 4.04% or 1.51 to hit $35.84 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 3.06% or 1.19 to trade at $37.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.0930, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.7280.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 98.27.
