United Arab Emirates shares lower at close of trade; DFM General down 0.34%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Sunday, as losses in the Real Estate & Construction, Consumer Staples and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.34%, while the ADX General index declined 1.12%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK), which rose 9.37% or 0.180 points to trade at 2.100 at the close. Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB) added 3.81% or 4.00 points to end at 109.00 and Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) was up 3.35% or 0.017 points to 0.525 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC), which lost 5.31% or 0.060 points to trade at 1.070 in late trade. Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) declined 2.48% or 0.010 points to end at 0.394 and Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) shed 2.33% or 0.010 points to 0.420.

The top performers on the ADX General were Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which rose 14.63% to 0.470, Ad Aviation (AD:ADAV) which was up 9.32% to settle at 3.05 and Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which gained 5.26% to close at 2.00.

The worst performers were Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) which was down 6.01% to 8.13 in late trade, Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which lost 5.88% to settle at 0.320 and Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which was down 5.56% to 0.90 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 14 to 12 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 13 fell and 9 advanced on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 2.95% or 1.27 to $41.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 1.26% or 0.57 to hit $44.88 a barrel, while the December Gold contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $1056.20 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.17% to 3.8917.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 100.05.
