Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Food & Beverages and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 4.97%, while the MDAX index gained 3.66%, and the TecDAX index climbed 5.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn), which rose 9.67% or 0.840 points to trade at 9.527 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) added 6.41% or 0.900 points to end at 14.940 and Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG) was up 6.36% or 4.890 points to 81.820 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn), which added 1.32% or 2.100 points to trade at 160.800 in late trade. Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p) added 2.67% or 2.450 points to end at 94.080 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG) gained 2.78% or 1.790 points to 66.230.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which rose 8.15% to 69.430, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was up 6.25% to settle at 12.920 and Kion Group AG (XETRA:KGX) which gained 6.02% to close at 38.93.
The worst performers were Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which was down 0.31% to 6.742 in late trade, Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which gained 0.38% to settle at 56.224 and Celesio AG Nam. O.N. (XETRA:CLSGn) which was up 0.81% to 24.915 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which rose 16.84% to 182.100, SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was up 14.12% to settle at 33.185 and Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which gained 13.30% to close at 25.040.
The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which was up 1.19% to 81.960 in late trade, PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which gained 2.33% to settle at 11.000 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (XETRA:AFXG) which was up 2.35% to 23.265 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 671 to 83 and 34 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 18.45% to 27.93 a new 3-year high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.53% or 17.60 to $1136.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.22% or 1.23 to hit $39.47 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.65% or 0.70 to trade at $43.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.74% to 1.1417, while EUR/GBP fell 1.28% to 0.7272.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.32% at 94.61.
