Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3), which rose 3.32% or 0.32 points to trade at 9.96 at the close. Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) added 2.64% or 0.73 points to end at 28.40 and Marcopolo SA (SA:POMO4) was up 2.36% or 0.06 points to 2.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3), which lost 4.13% or 0.86 points to trade at 19.94 in late trade. Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) declined 4.05% or 0.57 points to end at 13.52 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) shed 3.42% or 0.25 points to 7.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 175 to 119 and 9 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.16% to 30.33.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.04% or 0.50 to $1185.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.55% or 0.33 to hit $60.12 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.57% or 2.02 to trade at $126.60 .
USD/BRL was down 1.14% to 3.0558, while EUR/BRL fell 0.31% to 3.4636.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.77% at 94.48.
