Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Media, Consumer Services and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice SA (AMS:ATCE), which rose 6.87% or 7.20 points to trade at 112.05 at the close. Aalberts Industries (AMS:AALB) added 1.16% or 0.33 points to end at 28.34 and ING Groep (AMS:ING) was up 0.81% or 0.115 points to 14.335 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wolters Kluwer (AMS:WLSNc), which lost 3.98% or 1.15 points to trade at 27.61 in late trade. Aegon (AMS:AEGN) declined 3.05% or 0.218 points to end at 6.926 and Vopak (AMS:VOPA) shed 1.54% or 0.69 points to 44.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 139 to 108 and 4 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.48% to 20.06.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.74% or 0.45 to $61.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.40% or 0.94 to hit $68.32 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.96% or 23.40 to trade at $1215.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 1.38% to 1.1368, while EUR/GBP rose 0.88% to 0.7219.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.15% at 93.61.
