Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.91%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP), which rose 1.81% or 4.15 points to trade at 233.75 at the close. Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) added 0.44% or 0.10 points to end at 21.83 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was up 0.37% or 0.45 points to 121.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Societe Generale (PA:SOGN), which lost 2.53% or 1.31 points to trade at 50.57 in late trade. Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) declined 2.52% or 1.32 points to end at 50.96 and Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) shed 2.26% or 1.64 points to 70.82.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which rose 3.19% to 30.590, Gemalto (AS:GTO) which was up 2.23% to settle at 56.01 and Altran Technologies (PA:ALTT) which gained 1.81% to close at 16.290.
The worst performers were JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which was down 2.62% to 29.96 in late trade, Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) which lost 2.53% to settle at 50.57 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) which was down 2.52% to 50.96 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 352 to 274 and 84 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 23.92% to 14.40 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.05% or 0.65 to $1227.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.76% or 0.35 to hit $45.87 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.90% or 0.44 to trade at $48.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.65% to 1.0926, while EUR/GBP fell 0.28% to 0.8449.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.59% at 99.00.
