Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Healthcare and Telecoms Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC added 0.58% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX:WALMEX), which rose 2.99% or 1.300 points to trade at 44.740 at the close. Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO) added 2.03% or 0.240 points to end at 12.060 and Telesites SAB de CV (MX:SITESL) was up 2.02% or 0.240 points to 12.130 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Empresas ICA , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICA), which lost 3.28% or 0.080 points to trade at 2.360 in late trade. La Comercial (MX:LCMRUBC) declined 1.50% or 0.29 points to end at 19.06 and Banregio Grupo Financiero SAB De CV (MX:GFREGIOO) shed 0.95% or 0.980 points to 101.930.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 88 to 83 and 6 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.04% or 0.55 to $1246.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.35% or 0.67 to hit $50.36 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.66% or 0.84 to trade at $51.39 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 1.66% to 18.3619, while EUR/MXN fell 1.60% to 20.8581.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 93.85.
