Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Consumer Services and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.51% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 7.30% or 0.313 points to trade at 4.600 at the close. Mapfre (MC:MAP) added 4.04% or 0.076 points to end at 1.958 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was up 3.09% or 0.298 points to 9.943 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gamesa (MC:GAM), which lost 3.67% or 0.640 points to trade at 16.820 in late trade. FCC (MC:FCC) declined 2.47% or 0.167 points to end at 6.590 and Banco Popular (MC:POP) shed 1.91% or 0.045 points to 2.315.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 143 to 64 and 12 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.89% or 11.20 to $1269.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 3.33% or 1.15 to hit $35.72 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 3.91% or 1.45 to trade at $38.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.1002, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.7736.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 97.30.
