Benzinga - The Starknet Foundation on Friday acknowledged the circulation of screenshots on social media revealing an early version of a potential provisions portal.

This development aligned with its initial announcement made a year ago regarding the distribution of the STRK token. The foundation was in the process of developing plans to allocate these tokens to certain users and contributors as a recognition of their past activities.

In a statement, the Starknet Foundation clarified the shared screenshots depicted draft plans which are still in the process of being refined.

The organization emphasized the criteria determining the eligibility for receiving tokens had already been established, and no current actions or activities will influence this eligibility.

The foundation assured once the criteria and details regarding the token allocations are finalized, it will be officially released to the public.

In 2022, the Starknet Foundation announced the issuance of 10 billion Stark (STRK) tokens.

According to this announcement, half of these tokens would be retained by the Starknet Foundation itself, with the rest being distributed among core developers, ecosystem contributors and the broader community.

Starknet operates as a decentralized Layer 2 network on top of Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH), utilizing a zero-knowledge roll-up solution.

This approach involves condensing multiple transactions off-chain and subsequently publishing them as a single transaction on the Ethereum network.

The network was originally developed by StarkWare, known for its invention of the Stark cryptographic proofs.

Now, the development and management of Starknet are overseen by the Starknet Foundation.
