Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Chemicals and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 2.71%, while the MDAX index fell 2.30%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which rose 4.99% or 0.545 points to trade at 11.460 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) fell 0.89% or 0.087 points to end at 9.741 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) was down 1.24% or 2.050 points to 163.800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which lost 5.27% or 0.700 points to trade at 12.595 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) declined 5.26% or 0.524 points to end at 9.440 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) shed 4.75% or 0.910 points to 18.240.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which rose 0.73% to 13.035, Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which was up 0.52% to settle at 15.505 and Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which unchanged 0.00% to close at 58.161.
The worst performers were Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which was down 4.47% to 18.785 in late trade, Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) which lost 4.43% to settle at 53.880 and Leoni AG NA O.N. (XETRA:LEOGn) which was down 3.92% to 52.150 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Software AG O.N. (XETRA:SOWG) which rose 3.85% to 25.065, Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which was down 0.06% to settle at 41.450 and Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which lost 0.34% to close at 3.770.
The worst performers were LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 6.90% to 8.100 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which lost 5.42% to settle at 182.250 and Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was down 5.13% to 9.189 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 557 to 114 and 43 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 25.88.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.38% or 4.30 to $1120.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.11% or 0.52 to hit $46.23 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.39% or 0.70 to trade at $49.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.1131, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.7323.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 96.35.
