Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 1.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG), which rose 2.19% or 12.0 points to trade at 559.0 at the close. Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) added 1.48% or 0.0155 points to end at 1.0645 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) was up 1.41% or 8.50 points to 612.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA), which lost 6.97% or 14.15 points to trade at 188.85 in late trade. MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) declined 4.61% or 493.0 points to end at 10200.0 and RDR United Company RUSAL PLC (MCX:RUALR) shed 4.17% or 12.00 points to 275.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 138 to 68 and 11 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.31% to 37.990.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.70% or 7.90 to $1132.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.76% or 1.28 to hit $45.08 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.46% or 0.71 to trade at $48.37 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.34% to 66.343, while EUR/RUB rose 0.92% to 74.160.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 96.40.
