Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Manufacturing and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA), which rose 4.31% or 7.45 points to trade at 180.45 at the close. Sollers (MCX:SVAV) added 3.66% or 14.0 points to end at 396.0 and PIK (MCX:PIKK) was up 3.45% or 5.50 points to 165.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MiMES Rostelekom OAO Pref (MCX:RTKM_p), which lost 0.72% or 0.40 points to trade at 55.50 in late trade. Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) declined 0.68% or 4.0 points to end at 586.0 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) shed 0.57% or 3.90 points to 677.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 129 to 71 and 7 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.26% to 34.770.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.29% or 3.20 to $1093.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.05% or 0.47 to hit $44.19 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.16% or 0.57 to trade at $48.95 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.19% to 63.941, while EUR/RUB rose 0.18% to 70.104.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 97.70.
