Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT), which rose 4.65% or 0.96 points to trade at 21.61 at the close. Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) added 3.45% or 0.49 points to end at 14.70 and Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) was up 2.91% or 0.15 points to 5.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which lost 8.19% or 25.88 points to trade at 290.01 in late trade. Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) declined 2.30% or 0.020 points to end at 0.850 and Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) shed 1.69% or 0.010 points to 0.580.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 19 to 15 and 48 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 1.41% or 0.64 to $44.63 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 1.21% or 0.56 to hit $45.80 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.78% or 9.95 to trade at $1263.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 1.73% to 343.560, while USD/NGN fell 0.16% to 316.000.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 98.86.
