Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Building & Construction and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 3.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Acerinox (MC:ACX), which rose 8.11% or 0.743 points to trade at 9.902 at the close. Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) added 6.63% or 0.188 points to end at 3.023 and Sacyr (MC:SCYR) was up 6.50% or 0.087 points to 1.425 in late trade.
Biggest losers included FCC (MC:FCC), which added 0.81% or 0.052 points to trade at 6.492 in late trade. Inditex (MC:ITX) added 1.64% or 0.445 points to end at 27.555 and Endesa (MC:ELE) gained 1.87% or 0.295 points to 16.045.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 187 to 20 and 12 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 2.47% or 30.60 to $1208.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.85% or 0.25 to hit $29.69 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.06% or 0.02 to trade at $33.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.00% to 1.1143, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.7719.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.87% at 96.83.
