Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Engineering, Gas & Water and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.07%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Bouygues (PARIS:BOUY), which rose 1.90% or 0.66 points to trade at 35.16 at the close. Vivendi (PARIS:VIV) added 1.84% or 0.43 points to end at 23.83 and Cap Gemini (PARIS:CAPP) was up 1.60% or 1.30 points to 82.57 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Technip (PARIS:TECF), which lost 2.20% or 1.30 points to trade at 57.70 in late trade. Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) declined 1.62% or 0.15 points to end at 9.33 and Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA) shed 1.41% or 0.049 points to 3.437.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Solocal Group (PARIS:LOCAL) which rose 4.46% to 0.445, Saft (PARIS:S1A) which was up 4.45% to settle at 40.12 and Numericable Pr (PARIS:NUME) which gained 3.36% to close at 51.020.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which was down 5.77% to 18.78 in late trade, Neopost (PARIS:NPOS) which lost 2.43% to settle at 39.81 and Technip (PARIS:TECF) which was down 2.20% to 57.70 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 486 to 386 and 68 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 3.49% to 24.43.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.03% or 0.40 to $1172.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.03% or 0.62 to hit $59.65 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.86% or 0.55 to trade at $62.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1199, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.7120.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 95.43.
