Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Electric Power, Consumption and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 9.12% or 1.24 points to trade at 14.84 at the close. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) added 5.69% or 0.89 points to end at 16.52 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 5.23% or 1.23 points to 24.73 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3), which lost 22.41% or 4.19 points to trade at 14.51 in late trade. Even Construtora e Incorporadora SA (SA:EVEN3) declined 5.49% or 0.25 points to end at 4.30 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) shed 5.26% or 0.33 points to 5.94.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 146 to 127 and 6 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 6.67% to 30.49 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.47% or 5.50 to $1187.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.78% or 0.46 to hit $59.40 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.78% or 2.35 to trade at $134.03 .
USD/BRL was down 1.50% to 2.9792, while EUR/BRL fell 2.05% to 3.3384.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 94.87.
