Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Basic Materials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA), which rose 5.73% or 0.56 points to trade at 10.28 at the close. OCI (AMS:OCI) added 3.26% or 0.845 points to end at 26.795 and Boskalis Westmin (AMS:BOSN) was up 2.47% or 1.11 points to 46.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ahold Kon (AMS:AHLN), which lost 0.38% or 0.07 points to trade at 18.14 in late trade. TNT Express (AMS:TNTE) declined 0.16% or 0.012 points to end at 7.638 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AMS:RDSa) gained 0.13% or 0.04 points to 28.04.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 182 to 57 and 4 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 5.23% to 19.01.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.24% or 0.75 to $59.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.81% or 0.55 to hit $66.72 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.42% or 5.10 to trade at $1223.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1377, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.7221.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 93.61.
