On the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, Gold futures for June delivery traded at USD1279.80 a troy ounce at time of writing falling 1.24%.
Earlier, it traded at a session low USD1278.00 a troy ounce. Gold was likely to find support at USD1278.00 and resistance at USD1306.50.
US Dollar Index, which tracks the performance of the greenback versus a basket of six other major currencies, fell 0.03% to trade at USD79.55.
Elsewhere on the Comex, Silver for July delivery fell 1.28% to trade at USD18.928 a troy ounce while Copper for July delivery fell 0.25% to trade at USD3.020 a pound.
