Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.15%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP), which rose 4.90% or 3.86 points to trade at 82.65 at the close. Klepierre (PA:LOIM) added 3.09% or 1.22 points to end at 40.58 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was up 2.86% or 2.12 points to 76.34 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Technip (PA:TECF), which lost 0.90% or 0.46 points to trade at 50.67 in late trade. Orange SA (PA:ORAN) declined 0.10% or 0.01 points to end at 14.25 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) shed 0.04% or 0.002 points to 5.020.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which rose 7.78% to 38.305, Orpea (PA:ORP) which was up 7.58% to settle at 79.90 and Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) which gained 4.90% to close at 82.65.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 4.16% to 3.249 in late trade, Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which lost 2.07% to settle at 10.88 and Casino Guichard (PA:CASP) which was down 2.04% to 51.47 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 334 to 194 and 105 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.28% to 19.45.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.05% or 13.95 to $1318.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.92% or 0.42 to hit $45.87 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.35% or 0.63 to trade at $47.29 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.15% to 1.1004, while EUR/GBP fell 0.67% to 0.8351.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 97.20.
