Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Randstad (AS:RAND), which rose 2.28% or 1.22 points to trade at 54.80 at the close. Gemalto (AS:GTO) added 2.23% or 1.23 points to end at 56.48 and Vopak (AS:VOPA) was up 2.14% or 0.89 points to 42.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 4.79% or 0.359 points to trade at 7.140 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 0.78% or 0.110 points to end at 13.905 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) shed 0.71% or 0.56 points to 78.54.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 70 to 53 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.37% to 16.97.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.58% or 0.31 to $53.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.75% or 0.42 to hit $55.81 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.14% or 1.80 to trade at $1276.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.0606, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.8487.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 100.61.
