Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financial Services, Materials and Telecoms Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC added 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO), which rose 5.66% or 0.950 points to trade at 17.740 at the close. Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (MX:FMSAUBD) added 2.15% or 3.450 points to end at 164.110 and Ohl Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:OHLMEX) was up 1.72% or 0.360 points to 21.310 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gentera SAB de CV (MX:GENTERA), which lost 3.96% or 1.260 points to trade at 30.560 in late trade. Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB) declined 3.03% or 1.860 points to end at 59.570 and Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALSEA) shed 2.75% or 1.480 points to 52.270.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 179 to 138 and 5 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 1.70% or 20.30 to $1216.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.31% or 0.16 to hit $52.53 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $55.48 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.06% to 21.4961, while EUR/MXN fell 0.05% to 23.0235.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.25% at 100.26.
