Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.92% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.92%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (PA:ALSO), which rose 7.62% or 1.59 points to trade at 22.45 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 6.95% or 0.30 points to end at 4.60 and Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) was up 6.15% or 1.53 points to 26.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AXA SA (PA:AXAF), which lost 1.09% or 0.23 points to trade at 21.35 in late trade. Orange SA (PA:ORAN) declined 0.31% or 0.05 points to end at 15.90 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PA:LVMH) shed 0.23% or 0.35 points to 153.35.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which rose 16.97% to 7.72, CGG (PA:GEPH) which was up 10.29% to settle at 0.75 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) which gained 9.12% to close at 64.48.
The worst performers were Euronext (PA:ENX) which was down 2.81% to 37.30 in late trade, Biomerieux (PA:BIOX) which lost 2.05% to settle at 100.55 and Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which was down 1.89% to 10.13 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 438 to 231 and 100 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 8.34% to 23.41 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.87% or 11.00 to $1269.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 3.33% or 1.15 to hit $35.72 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 3.91% or 1.45 to trade at $38.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.1002, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.7737.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 97.31.
