FTSE 100 Heading Towards 7000

Published 10/08/2016, 05:25

Richard Hunter, Head of Research at Wilson King Investments, joined the Tip TV Finance Show to offer his view on the top sectoral picks for UK market, the outlook ahead for the FTSE 100, and August seasonality. Interview by Nick Batsford, CEO at Tip TV.

Highlights:

“Lot of strength in FTSE 100 due to sterling weakness. Something that could hold the equity index back now would be banks.”

“August seasonality – we saw massive outflow from retail funds, but now investors who exited feel that they should have stayed in.”

“Fact is there will be 5 yrs before Brexit stands completed so there would be lot of volatility in the markets.”

“Retail sales were good for July, companies saying they are holding off investments before UK economy picture becomes clear.”

“Sectoral picks – Defence-sector stocks with dividend. FTSE 100 could go to 7000 this year.”
