Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 1.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Obrascon Huarte Lain (MC:OHL), which rose 6.84% or 0.330 points to trade at 5.151 at the close. Int.Airl.Grp (MC:ICAG) added 2.00% or 0.138 points to end at 7.034 and Bankia (MC:BKIA) was up 1.47% or 0.011 points to 0.760 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 4.24% or 0.146 points to trade at 3.294 in late trade. Sacyr (MC:SCYR) declined 3.42% or 0.051 points to end at 1.440 and Repsol (MC:REP) shed 3.30% or 0.305 points to 8.935.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 147 to 55 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 1.29% or 15.60 to $1225.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 4.64% or 1.55 to hit $31.84 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 4.01% or 1.39 to trade at $33.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.1021, while EUR/GBP rose 0.77% to 0.7854.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 97.44.
