Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Elia (BR:ELI), which rose 3.00% or 1.355 points to trade at 46.540 at the close. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) added 1.75% or 0.46 points to end at 26.43 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was up 1.01% or 0.41 points to 41.41 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which lost 1.74% or 0.48 points to trade at 27.43 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 1.70% or 1.12 points to end at 64.77 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) shed 1.19% or 0.59 points to 49.15.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 79 to 77 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.80% or 10.15 to $1273.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.35% or 0.68 to hit $49.84 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.36% or 0.70 to trade at $50.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.0892, while EUR/GBP rose 0.61% to 0.8946.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 98.68.
