Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Building & Construction and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 1.58% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which rose 5.96% or 0.615 points to trade at 10.925 at the close. Acciona (MC:ANA) added 5.53% or 3.570 points to end at 68.170 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (MC:ICAG) was up 2.98% or 0.154 points to 5.327 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 3.26% or 0.252 points to trade at 7.472 in late trade. Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) declined 1.04% or 0.180 points to end at 17.185 and Indra A (MC:IDR) shed 0.45% or 0.045 points to 10.005.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 108 to 52 and 19 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.67% or 7.85 to $1157.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.36% or 0.19 to hit $53.02 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.23% or 0.13 to trade at $55.82 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0627, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.8384.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 101.06.
