The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which rose 2.35% or 10.60 points to trade at 461.70 at the close. Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) added 2.26% or 16.20 points to end at 732.20 and Phoenix Group Holdings PLC (LON:PHNX) was up 2.11% or 11.00 points to 532.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES), which lost 3.64% or 48.00 points to trade at 1,272.00 in late trade. Beazley PLC (LON:BEZG) declined 3.04% or 21.50 points to end at 686.50 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) shed 2.78% or 69.50 points to 2,432.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1053 to 763 and 693 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.05% or 1.15 to $2,338.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.75% or 1.43 to hit $82.97 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.62% or 1.38 to trade at $86.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.09% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 105.59.
