Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Industrial Transportation and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 2.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS), which rose 2.44% or 2.70 points to trade at 113.25 at the close. Informa PLC (LON:INF) added 2.41% or 10.60 points to end at 449.80 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) was up 2.36% or 230.0 points to 9980.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which lost 8.44% or 92.5 points to trade at 1003.0 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (LON:RDSa) declined 7.05% or 93.4 points to end at 1231.6 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (LON:RDSa) shed 7.02% or 93.00 points to 1232.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1127 to 490 and 122 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.42% or 7.20 to $1701.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 4.56% or 0.86 to hit $19.70 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.06% or 0.28 to trade at $26.20 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.69% to 1.2506, while EUR/GBP rose 1.00% to 0.8784.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.00% at 99.025.
