Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil & Gas Producers and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 2.39% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB), which rose 0.51% or 2.80 points to trade at 557.80 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 0.19% or 5.00 points to end at 2635.00 and London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.0 points to 7600.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which lost 8.27% or 117.0 points to trade at 1297.2 in late trade. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) declined 6.64% or 8.05 points to end at 113.25 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 6.58% or 54.20 points to 770.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2002 to 290 and 152 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.40% or 7.20 to $1807.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 6.68% or 4.78 to hit $66.78 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 6.07% or 4.47 to trade at $69.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.64% to 1.3683, while EUR/GBP rose 0.68% to 0.8628.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 92.797.
