Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Mining, Oil & Gas Producers and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 2.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which rose 3.57% or 6.64 points to trade at 192.89 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 1.94% or 18.80 points to end at 990.00 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) was up 1.77% or 0.92 points to 52.92 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV), which lost 6.37% or 38.60 points to trade at 567.40 in late trade. British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) declined 5.66% or 29.40 points to end at 490.20 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) shed 5.31% or 156.7 points to 2796.8.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1767 to 571 and 66 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 2.79% or 49.50 to $1725.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.67% or 1.06 to hit $62.47 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.35% or 0.89 to trade at $65.22 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.47% to 1.3947, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8686.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.62% at 90.692.
