Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Beverage, Industrial Transportation and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 2.94% or 49.50 points to trade at 1,735.00 at the close. BP PLC (LON:BP) added 1.85% or 7.75 points to end at 426.65 and Avast PLC (LON:AVST) was up 1.49% or 7.80 points to 531.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which lost 8.29% or 11.88 points to trade at 131.44 in late trade. Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) declined 7.55% or 45.60 points to end at 558.80 and Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) shed 6.61% or 78.50 points to 1,109.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1534 to 426 and 368 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.44% or 8.24 to $1,883.94 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.66% or 1.80 to hit $110.06 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.50% or 1.66 to trade at $112.56 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.38% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 103.53.
