Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Banking and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rosneft (LON:ROSNq), which rose 3.02% or 0.15 points to trade at 5.25 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 2.79% or 335.0 points to end at 12325.0 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) was up 1.95% or 48.0 points to 2514.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 6.15% or 22.60 points to trade at 344.70 in late trade. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) declined 5.00% or 3.30 points to end at 62.72 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 4.17% or 8.90 points to 204.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1176 to 1023 and 138 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.99% or 19.30 to $1968.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.27% or 0.54 to hit $42.13 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.30% or 0.59 to trade at $44.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.36% to 1.3079, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.9035.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 93.195.
