Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Oil & Gas Producers and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 1.27% or 5.50 points to trade at 438.70 at the close. Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) added 1.04% or 1.70 points to end at 165.55 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 0.90% or 1.55 points to 173.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which lost 6.39% or 9.30 points to trade at 136.30 in late trade. JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) declined 4.39% or 5.65 points to end at 123.20 and Shell PLC (LON:SHEL) shed 2.84% or 80.00 points to 2,733.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1061 to 711 and 708 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.20% or 5.15 to $2,546.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.38% or 0.28 to hit $73.38 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.42% or 0.33 to trade at $77.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.35% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 101.37.
