Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining, Industrial Engineering and General Retailers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 4.40% or 3.57 points to trade at 84.78 at the close. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) added 3.93% or 3.32 points to end at 87.86 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) was up 3.12% or 15.80 points to 522.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 12.93% or 31.80 points to trade at 214.20 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 9.05% or 72.40 points to end at 727.80 and Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) shed 5.62% or 150.00 points to 2,519.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1086 to 746 and 465 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.08% or 1.46 to $1,817.44 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.45% or 2.69 to hit $106.94 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.55% or 2.85 to trade at $109.08 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.97% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.41% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 103.75.
