Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Electrical, Healthcare Equipment & Services and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Smurfit Kappa Group PLC (LON:SWR), which rose 2.68% or 98.00 points to trade at 3,758.00 at the close. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) added 2.45% or 128.00 points to end at 5,350.00 and 3I Group PLC (LON:III) was up 1.69% or 51.00 points to 3,067.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which lost 16.08% or 142.60 points to trade at 744.00 in late trade. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 3.60% or 80.00 points to end at 2,145.00 and Frasers Group PLC (LON:FRAS) shed 3.60% or 31.50 points to 843.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 958 to 825 and 707 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.77% or 18.70 to $2,439.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.17% or 0.14 to hit $80.88 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.10 to trade at $84.93 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 103.86.
