Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Life Insurance/Assurance, Automobiles & Parts and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq), which rose 2.46% or 0.034 points to trade at 1.418 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 1.83% or 14.60 points to end at 812.20 and Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) was up 1.61% or 43.0 points to 2709.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prudential PLC (LON:PRU), which lost 3.85% or 58.50 points to trade at 1460.00 in late trade. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) declined 3.42% or 52.6 points to end at 1483.0 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 3.38% or 11.30 points to 322.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1323 to 649 and 479 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.56% or 9.95 to $1788.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.11% or 0.76 to hit $67.45 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.98% or 0.69 to trade at $69.90 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.11% to 1.3848, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8504.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 92.618.
