Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Aerospace & Defense, Mobile Telecommunications and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 4.64% or 80.50 points to trade at 1816.50 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 3.26% or 20.20 points to end at 640.20 and Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO) was up 1.67% or 18.00 points to 1096.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES), which lost 2.21% or 12.80 points to trade at 566.80 in late trade. Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) declined 2.10% or 148.00 points to end at 6886.00 and Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) shed 1.98% or 9.20 points to 455.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1213 to 850 and 267 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.00% or 0.05 to $1518.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.15% or 0.09 to hit $61.63 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.34% or 0.23 to trade at $66.64 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.33% to 1.3119, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8544.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 96.360.
