Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Life Insurance/Assurance and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT), which rose 5.94% or 345.0 points to trade at 6152.0 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 4.29% or 28.60 points to end at 695.00 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) was up 1.71% or 9.40 points to 558.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq), which lost 7.01% or 0.086 points to trade at 1.140 in late trade. NK Rosneft PAO DRC (LON:ROSNq) declined 5.99% or 0.47 points to end at 7.44 and Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) shed 5.50% or 0.82 points to 14.07.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1298 to 567 and 475 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.61% or 30.10 to $1901.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.51% or 2.35 to hit $91.31 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.39% or 2.27 to trade at $92.54 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.31% to 1.3626, while EUR/GBP fell 0.41% to 0.8335.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 95.835.
