Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Electronic & Electrical Equipment and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT), which rose 1.24% or 57.00 points to trade at 4,667.00 at the close. Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) added 1.19% or 8.00 points to end at 681.20 and Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) was up 1.15% or 3.70 points to 326.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD), which lost 5.95% or 9.50 points to trade at 150.20 in late trade. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) declined 4.59% or 17.50 points to end at 364.00 and Diploma PLC (LON:DPLM) shed 2.89% or 134.00 points to 4,498.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1048 to 724 and 695 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.20% or 5.20 to $2,597.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.61% or 0.43 to hit $69.53 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.62% or 0.46 to trade at $73.24 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 1.32, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 100.60.
