Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Industrial Metals & Mining and Food Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT), which rose 1.50% or 40.00 points to trade at 2,710.00 at the close. Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) added 1.40% or 16.50 points to end at 1,198.50 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) was up 1.14% or 12.00 points to 1,068.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV), which lost 6.29% or 90.00 points to trade at 1,340.00 in late trade. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 5.18% or 33.00 points to end at 604.40 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) shed 3.76% or 64.00 points to 1,638.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1200 to 584 and 691 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.53% or 13.50 to $2,529.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.18% or 1.51 to hit $67.64 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.16% or 1.57 to trade at $71.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.39% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 101.20.
