Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Chemicals and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Halma PLC (LON:HLMA), which rose 13.36% or 314.00 points to trade at 2,664.00 at the close. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) added 4.33% or 5.60 points to end at 135.00 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) was up 4.18% or 101.00 points to 2,520.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICGIN), which lost 5.36% or 126.00 points to trade at 2,226.00 in late trade. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) declined 4.58% or 264.00 points to end at 5,496.00 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) shed 3.81% or 57.00 points to 1,441.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1266 to 536 and 701 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.81% or 42.70 to $2,312.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.14% or 0.11 to hit $78.39 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.04 to trade at $82.56 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.36% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.21% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 104.77.
