Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 3.62% or 390.0 points to trade at 11150.0 at the close. Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) added 2.96% or 70.0 points to end at 2433.0 and Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) was up 2.67% or 31.50 points to 1210.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW), which lost 5.96% or 9.05 points to trade at 142.75 in late trade. Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) declined 5.67% or 74.00 points to end at 1232.00 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 3.23% or 15.00 points to 448.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1203 to 947 and 175 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.31% or 5.45 to $1730.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.16% or 0.82 to hit $38.78 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.77% or 0.72 to trade at $41.43 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.10% to 1.2416, while EUR/GBP rose 0.74% to 0.9019.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 97.480.
